When the military is a major presence in your life it has a way of changing everything in the blink of an eye. As such, you take advantage of the time you have, when you have it. Katie and Will did just that, choosing to say their I Dos in the foothills of Charlottesville, VA. This intimate affair included an entire weekend getaway for those closest to them. Secluded bed and breakfast, vineyard tours, a cozy wedding and lovely reception. This particular spot, the Arcady Vineyards, was not chosen randomly. Katie took Will here for his birthday only a few months after they started dating. And it is was that weekend that they first confided wanting a real future together. Just two months later, Will was down on one knee asking Katie to marry him.
More than that they are genuine, kind and unbelievably thoughtful. In my correspondence with Katie leading up to the wedding she would often ask me what I needed and if she could help in anyway. Um, hello? You hired me to take care of you, not the other way around silly. The day of, they were both incredibly relaxed and laid back, making my job a true joy...and most certainly a testament to knowing they were about to make the best decision of their lives. To top it all off, they left me with over an hour to shoot their bride and groom portraits!!! If you haven't figured it out, this is my all time favorite part of the wedding day. The stressful, nerve wracking portion is over. It's just the two of them, for the first time as husband and wife. They don't have a care in the world. Nothing to focus on but each other. And each other is all they need.
